The Mansfield Airport Commission on June 8 approved environmental data gathering for a planned wildlife perimeter fence and signed off on engineering work needed for the airport's Yearly Operating Plan.
Jackie Marks of Gale Associates presented the airport engineer's report, outlining project activity including Runway 32 avigation-easement work, reconstruction of Runway 14-32 and Taxiway A, a wildlife hazard assessment and the proposed wildlife perimeter fencing program. After questions from commissioners, Martin Fox moved to approve the scope of work for the environmental data gathering and analysis required for the fencing project; Ken Buja seconded the motion and the commission voted 4-0 to approve it.
The commission also approved Gale Associates' engineering fee of $41,981 for preparation of the Yearly Operating Plan (YOP). Ken Buja moved and Treasurer William Walker seconded a motion authorizing Chair Joel Brandwine to submit a MassDOT grant application for the YOP and to execute Gale's YOP contract; that motion passed 4-0. The MassDOT application was authorized for submission at the chair's signature.
