The Village of Poplar Board approved purchase of turnout gear for a new fire department member at approximately $3,840 plus shipping during its May 12 meeting. Trustee Kory Gilderman moved to purchase the gear and Trustee Bruce Bergsten seconded; the motion carried without negative votes.
The fire department reported two calls in April and four calls so far in May and said it had submitted the final report for the Lindgren Road fire to the state. Trustees discussed ordering new helmets at about $500 each; NBC contacted the department to offer a $500 donation toward one helmet. The department also has applied for a medical grant. Trustees noted that half of the fire department board will rotate every two years.
The minutes record the board’s approval of the gear purchase and the helmet cost estimates, but they do not specify a vendor for helmets, the total number of helmets to be purchased, or whether the NBC donation had been accepted or received by the time of the meeting.
