Northshore board outlines process to fill District 5 seat after resignation

The Northshore School District board announced its process to fill the District 5 vacancy left by the resignation of Director Kimberly Kelly, effective June 30.
President Sandy Hayes said the application period opened July 1 and will remain open through the end of the month. The board plans to use interview questions previously developed by PTSA and an NSD discussion group to structure candidate interviews and will meet in August to choose which questions to ask and to set interview lengths.
Board members discussed whether candidates should complete the questionnaires used previously or whether the board should pick questions from community-sourced materials. Director Han Tran suggested candidates might respond to the questionnaires directly; the board agreed to review process details and to hold interviews in August. The board expects to swear in the new Director for Area 5 at its September meeting.
No appointment decision was made at the session; the board advised members and community groups to submit question suggestions to the district recording secretary for consideration.
