Cloud Lake council approves consent agenda, hears public-safety and renovation updates

The Cloud Lake Town Council approved its consent agenda on May 14, 2026, voting 4-0 to accept the April 9 meeting minutes and to receive the Town Clerk’s May 14 report and the April 2026 Financial Report.
Council Member Kathleen Hoock made the motion to approve the consent agenda, which Council Member John Tyson seconded. The vote was unanimous (4-0) with Council Member Alexandra Powell-Sardinas absent.
There were no members of the public present for the public-comment portion of the meeting. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that a missing person was located on Shannondale Road. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, represented by Ed Harvey for Chief Martinez, said there were no calls in April, urged residents to prepare for hurricane season, and noted that an ALS competition team placed first at a local competition and that six members will travel to Brazil for a subsequent event.
Mayor Russ Nidy summarized several community items, including outreach by the County Library Bookmobile and his meeting with property owners at 1400 Southern Boulevard about possible development options; the mayor reminded owners that prior council discussions had not supported a proposal to relocate town offices to private property. Town Hall interior renovations continue: council was told electrical work for the kitchen, closet and bathroom remains outstanding but should be finished by the next meeting; staff will also consider window-tinting rather than blinds. Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg said wildflowers in the Preserve are doing well and that all lake bubblers are operating effectively.
The council tentatively set a variance hearing for 111 East Chandler Road on June 11 at 7 p.m. The clerk asked members to confirm availability before the last week of May so the hearing can be advertised without risking re-advertisement should a quorum be absent; Vice Mayor Chateau-Flagg had previously indicated she might be away that day.
Vice Mayor Chateau-Flagg moved to adjourn at 8:08 p.m.; Council Member Kathleen Hoock seconded. The motion carried 3-0 with Council Members Powell-Sardinas and Tyson absent from the final vote (Tyson had left earlier in the meeting).
