FDOT’s $1.5 million wrong-way detection project and PBIA noise monitor expansion noted at Cloud Lake meeting

Clerk Dorothy Gravelin told the council that the Florida Department of Transportation plans an Advanced Wrong Way Driving Detection Project at I-95 interchange exit ramps including Southern Boulevard, Congress Avenue in Boca Raton and Yamato Road. Gravelin said the one-year project will cost about $1.5 million, will flash DO NOT ENTER to detected wrong-way drivers, and will alert the Regional Transportation Management Center. A public information workshop is expected before the project start in fall 2026.
Gravelin also told the council the Citizens Committee on Airport Noise will meet next Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the PBIA Department of Airports to consider locations for additional noise monitors and to review a new Dashboard/Flight/Aircraft Metrics flight-tracking system. Additional monitors are being added due to Mar-a-Lago and Presidential flight restrictions, Gravelin said.
No formal municipal action on either item was recorded at the Feb. 12 meeting; both were presented as notices to the council and the public.
