Fallon residents press county on raccoons and dust; road supervisor cites unused gravel pits and equipment repairs

Residents in Fallon used the public-comment period July 16 to thank the road department for grading efforts and to raise nuisance and road-quality concerns.
Judy Cramer thanked the road department for grading roads in Fallon and reported raccoons nesting in abandoned buildings; she said the problem had been reported to the sheriff’s office and asked whether mosquito spraying was possible, noting that creation of a mosquito district and a levy would be required to fund spraying. Cynthia Thorton also reported raccoons in her garage and on her porch. Administrative Assistant Harry McNall relayed an additional citizen request asking the county to spray two blocks south of the racetrack to reduce dust.
Road Supervisor Todd Henry updated the commissioners that he had received two letters from the U.S. Department of the Interior concerning two gravel pits that have not been used in more than 25 years. Henry also reported a county grader with transmission and engine problems; he said he would take the grader to RDO for repairs.
No formal vote or directive on mosquito control or dust spraying was recorded during the public session; the transcript records residents’ requests and the road supervisor’s operational update.
