River Ridge orders engineer to inspect Pinehurst drainage after residents report flooding

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District board that, a week after a pipe was plugged, drainage problems persist at the Pinehurst triangle monument and water is overflowing in the monument area.
"The drainage issues persist; water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area," Perkins said, and relayed that resident Fred Kronke reported a retention pond that drains between River 8 and River 9 is nearly 1 foot above the drain and appears non‑functional.
District Engineer John Baker said the original problem—water from one system draining into another—was addressed when the inlet was plugged, but the plugged inlet left the water "with no place for the water to go" and the remaining condition is "akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe." Baker said resolving the remaining flooding will likely require additional study and asked for photographs or video to help staff diagnose the problem. Perkins said she will provide video footage to CDD staff.
The board said it will direct the district engineer to view the drainage firsthand. Chuck Adams, District Manager, noted that the pipes in question ultimately flow into the Estero River, running between properties, across the golf course and into a ditch that leads to the River Club.
An estimate from MRI Construction (Estimate #C060‑24) for a Type 9 inlet top to keep debris from blocking the structure was presented in the amount of $10,692.88; staff said an additional proposal is being sought and the item will remain on future agendas. Staff will also update the financial records to reflect that MRI plugged one pipe, not two.
Next steps: staff will collect Perkins’s photographs and video, the district engineer will inspect the Pinehurst sites, and the board will consider follow‑up study or repairs at a future meeting.
