Kentek CEO tells EDC about Boscawen expansion, 47 local jobs and export growth

Tom MacMullin, chief executive officer of Kentek Corporation, briefed the Town of Boscawen Economic Development Committee on the company’s four-year local presence and recent expansion.
MacMullin said Kentek manufactures laser safety products — including eyewear, barriers and beam-finding devices — and now employs 47 people, 41 of whom work in Boscawen. He told the committee the company expanded into a 33,000-square-foot facility that includes a new 9,300-square-foot addition and retained its workforce during the move.
MacMullin described Kentek’s market mix as roughly 75% U.S. and Canada sales and about 25% international distribution across 17 countries. He said demand remains strong, with particular growth in export markets such as Israel and Singapore.
The CEO flagged several business challenges: rising aluminum and energy costs, trade restrictions and difficulty recruiting skilled workers. Committee members discussed local workforce gaps and suggested creating or promoting internships to encourage students toward relevant career paths in manufacturing and technical trades.
Committee members thanked MacMullin for the presentation; he offered to host interested members on a tour of the Kentek facility after the meeting. The committee took no formal action on business assistance or incentives during the meeting.
