Richmond Lake dam work ongoing; county notes pump removals and upcoming legislative review

County staff gave an update on Richmond Lake dam work and related public cleanup efforts and noted upcoming legislative oversight.

Scott Meints (speaker 3) told the commission contractors were "moving the damaged pumps out of the way" and that the project team plans to keep a pump available for heavy rains. He said some concrete was poured for part of the dam and must cure before further work. Meints also reported the water level downstream has dropped significantly, easing some immediate concerns.

Jeanie Johnson (speaker 7) alerted the board that the Joint Appropriations Committee of the state legislature will meet next Monday and has the Richmond Lake Dam on its agenda; she said Commissioner Greenfield is scheduled to appear as part of reporting obligations tied to an additional $8,000,000 in funding. "They have regular reports about the project," Johnson said.

Mike Russell (speaker 5) said the Richmond Lake Association will provide dumpsters for public shoreline cleanup (excluding tires and pallets) and described two scheduled clean‑up days and additional days for individual shoreline cleanup.
