Chris Heaman, the Wheaton test supervisor, presented a sealed bid package that included a new 2027 Ford F‑50 regular cab chassis priced at about $69,594 and an alternate used 2019 F‑550 with about 37,000 miles and an installed flatbed priced at about $50,000. Heaman noted the used truck "does not meet all published mid requirements" but said "if it was in good enough condition, I don't really see any reason why that wouldn't work" and recommended having highway staff inspect the vehicle.
Commissioner Dinger moved to defer the decision to allow inspection; the motion was seconded and the board carried the deferment. The chair said staff will inspect the used vehicle and report back so the board can decide next week.
