Big Bear City district introduces ordinance to allow future rate changes; public hearing set for Jan. 21

President John Russo called the Big Bear City Community Services District meeting to order on Jan. 6, 2025, and introduced Proposed Ordinance 2025-01, which would authorize the district to establish future new or increased rates for water, wastewater and solid waste service by resolution as well as by ordinance. The board set a public hearing on the ordinance for Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
General Manager Glenn Jacklin told the board the District office is closed on Monday, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and explained the need to hold the hearing on Jan. 21 so the ordinance could be considered. With a majority vote the board waived the full reading of the ordinance title; the motion to waive was made by Director Larry Walsh and seconded by Director Bob Rowe and carried 5-0 (B. Rowe, J. Rowe, Russo, Walsh, Ziegler voting yes).
The ordinance was introduced by President Russo reading its title and will be considered for adoption at the Jan. 21 public hearing. The board did not take final action on rates at this meeting; the hearing is the next scheduled step in the ordinance process.
