Big Bear City CSD approves multi-year water, sewer and solid waste rate increases; John Russo re-elected president

The Big Bear City Community Services District Board of Directors voted Dec. 16 to approve a financial rate study and associated maximum rate increases for the district’s water, sewer and solid waste services.
Finance Officer Jeanette Prickett introduced Kevin Kostiuk, Raftelis project manager, who reviewed the study and staff’s recommended rate schedule. The board voted to adopt the study and the staff-recommended maximum increases. For the Water and Sewer departments the approved maximum is 9.5% for each fiscal year from 2025/26 through 2029/30. For Solid Waste the board approved maximum increases of 13% for FY 2025/26, 10% for FY 2026/27 and FY 2027/28, 6% for FY 2028/29 and 3% for FY 2029/30.
The motion to approve the rate study was moved by Director Larry Walsh and seconded by Director Bob Rowe. The roll-call vote was recorded as ayes from Directors Bob Rowe, JoKay Rowe, John Russo and Larry Walsh; Director Al Ziegler recorded the sole no vote.
