Airway Heights council approves security contract, planning‑commission appointment, budget and staff pay changes

At its April 21 meeting the Airway Heights City Council approved several operational and administrative items alongside public hearings and interviews.
Staff proposed consolidating security and fire‑alarm services across city facilities and recommended a contract with Camtek Inc.; council approved the contract by motion and vote 4‑0. Planning staff also presented an appointment for the planning commission (Lisa Specht); council voted 4‑0 to add her to the commission.
On finance matters, the council completed second reading and adopted an amendment to the final 2025 budget (Ordinance C‑1093) and approved a second‑reading ordinance updating position salaries and compensation (Ordinance C‑1094), which added a payroll accountant and a code compliance officer to the city's staffing plan. Both ordinances passed unanimously.
Council also adopted Resolution 2025‑011 proclaiming April 25, 2025, as Arbor Day in Airway Heights.
Separately, council tabled a home‑electrification and appliance‑rebate grant item at staff's request to return at a future meeting.
