City Manager Albert Tripp outlined the process and timeline before candidates took the lectern. The four applicants who advanced from an initial pool of seven were Cassandra Quizno, Jesse Camacho, Bill (William Franklin) Campbell and Carrie Breaux. Each candidate had 15 minutes to offer opening remarks and answer six council questions.
Cassandra Quizno said she has lived in the city for five years, leads a Girl Scout troop and emphasized improving communication and outreach to residents who are not online, plus pedestrian and sidewalk improvements to help people with disabilities. Jesse Camacho cited rapid growth as the city's principal challenge and advocated transparent engagement with stakeholders and partners to ensure resources keep pace with development.
Bill Campbell, a planning‑commission member and retired Air National Guard officer, emphasized balanced economic growth and that decisions should be deliberate and data‑driven. Carrie Breaux said she chose to apply because she now has time to serve, and she stressed listening, community outreach, and addressing traffic and service‑capacity issues tied to fast growth on Highway 2 and side streets.
Council members thanked each candidate for their time. Tripp reminded the public that the council will deliberate and select two finalists at its May 5 meeting.
