District honors employee of the month and highlights community grants for arts programs

Dr. Bryant asked attendees to join in recognizing Felicia Danza as Edgecombe County Public Schools employee of the month for February. The superintendent said Danza brings creativity and enthusiasm to her classroom with hands-on lessons including "interactive escape rooms," and noted she has taken on roles beyond teaching—including backup bus driver and tennis coach—and volunteered to transport students to a STEM camp.
The board and staff highlighted community donations to support expansion of middle-school band and chorus programs. Dr. Bryant described a neighborhood contribution of roughly $60,000 to support the program while Reverend Steven Mazingo of Calvary Episcopal Church said the church provided funding from its rector's discretionary trust and parishioners Bob and Alice Casanova donated $3,000; the church also pledged an annual donation.
The board recognized Tarboro High School’s football team and coach Craddock for winning the 1A state championship; players praised coaches and expressed gratitude to the board for support. The board paused to take photographs with honorees and visiting teams.
