The board approved a resolution authorizing assignment of a certificate that allows Samuel Holmes, a Jefferson High School teacher who holds an English credential and 42 semester units in fine arts, to continue teaching art outside his authorized teaching field.
Ms. Luhan told trustees the resolution must be approved annually to permit Holmes to teach art given his credentials and course units in fine arts. The board moved and approved the resolution by voice vote.
Separately, staff explained that the previously approved 2026'27 adult education calendar mistakenly listed 142 work days; after collaboration with AFT 1481 the district corrected the calendar to the intended 141 work days. The revised calendar was approved by the board on a voice vote.
Both items were approved with no public comment during this portion of the meeting. Staff said they would proceed with implementing the changes.
