Blanchester board approves routine business: grants, fees, personnel renewals and donations

The Blanchester Board of Education on May 19 approved a package of routine business items that included donations, a $30,000 Summer Learning Grant, updates to student policies and handbooks, meal price changes, personnel renewals and the district’s Five Year Forecast.
The board accepted donations including a $250 gift to DECA from Laurel’s, band contributions including $200 from Music Boosters and $342.82 from David Wood, FFA donations totaling $975 from multiple donors, a $260 baseball fund donation from Wright State Game proceeds, and a $1,000 donation to the football fund from Great Oaks. The board also approved Highland District Hospital to provide bus driver physicals and drug/alcohol testing and approved the MVECA service agreement for FY2026.
The district will operate a Summer School Program in 2025 supported by a $30,000 Summer Learning Grant from the Vallee Fund. The board set breakfast and lunch prices for the 2025–26 school year at $2.00 for breakfast (K–12), $3.25 for lunch (K–3) and $3.50 for lunch (4–12).
Financially, the treasurer presented reports and the board approved transfers including a $2,000,000 transfer from the General Fund to the Permanent Improvement Fund to support the roofing project; the Five Year Forecast and assumptions for May 2025 were also approved.
On personnel matters the board approved several resignations (including Jerry Settelmayer, Nicole Miller and Craig Anderson), new certified contracts (including Bryce Bandow, Zoie Stanforth and Adi Weeden for Middle School teaching positions) and many contract renewals across certified and classified staff. The board also approved supplemental coaching and advisor contracts for 2025–26 and named volunteers for the next school year.
Most consent items were approved by general motion and voice vote; where recorded the minutes state “All present voted to approve.”
