Blanchester board accepts donations, approves EF tour to Costa Rica and school sponsorships

The Blanchester Board of Education approved a package of donations, sponsorships and contracts at its Oct. 21 meeting and authorized a Spanish-class EF tour to Costa Rica.
Under a motion to accept the "Business of the Board," President John Panetta moved to approve multiple gifts to Putman Elementary, including book donations from ATSG Company (three books per Putman student and 300 additional library books) and financial contributions for a Putman shade-structure project from CL Products International LLC ($500) and Wilmington Eagles 1224 ($4,000). The motion to accept the Business of the Board was seconded by Mike Williams and carried by all present.
The board also approved donations and sponsorships across school activities: Kona Ice ($300), Blanchester Youth Football ($100), PowerAd ($6,885), Kroger Community Rewards amounts to principals and student groups, and donations to FFA, NHS, boys basketball and MS band. The board approved contracts with American Fidelity Assurance related to 1095 ACA compliance and related consulting agreements.
The board approved the EF Tour trip for Spanish classes to Costa Rica as part of the Business of the Board items. No public opposition to the trip was recorded in the minutes.
The board viewed the Auditor of State fraud-reporting training video and noted that all board members must complete the online training by Nov. 29, 2024, per AOS Bulletin 2004-005.
