City Administrator: FG Road low bid $2.78M, roundabout slated for 2027; meeting planned with prospective hockey owner

City Administrator Kelly Hayworth told the Coralville City Council that the FG Road project received a low bid of $2.78 million against a $3.54 million engineer's estimate. Hayworth said staff have been in discussions with Johnson County and are moving toward construction of FG Road and the Dubuque Street roundabout in calendar year 2027.
Hayworth also informed the council that city staff expect to meet in the coming days with a prospective new hockey owner to discuss replacing the Heartlanders for the 2027–2028 season. No formal approvals or agreements were announced at the work session.
The council did not vote on any contracts or authorize construction at the meeting; staff will return with procurement and scheduling details as those items are developed.
