Madison PEG TV to coordinate with DPW on office air-conditioning; short-term fixes approved informally

Madison PEG TV committee members spent a substantial portion of the meeting reviewing options for cooling their office, weighing short-term portable units against a longer-term mini-split or in-wall A/C.

Members described a donated portable unit that would require reframing and raised air-quality concerns because some portable units recirculate interior air. "If we use the in-wall unit, there's no hose," one member said, arguing it would be a better short-term option. Staff and members agreed the ideal path is to consult with DPW (Dave Swift) to determine whether the wall unit can be fitted and whether a mini-split should be considered as a capital project.

Practical steps were agreed: volunteers (Ron, Doug) offered help, the committee will contact DPW to arrange a site visit, and the group will evaluate whether the expendable trust or building capital funds could be used for a permanent installation. Members also discussed simpler mitigations (moving the unit, bracing on a bench, and confirming tubing availability) so staff have an immediate cooling option ahead of warm weather.

The committee did not vote to purchase equipment during the meeting but instructed staff and volunteers to coordinate with DPW and report back with a recommended path and associated costs for the next meeting.
