Wanamingo council approves routine permits, pool schedule and contractor pay request; bridge repairs contractor replaced

The Wanamingo City Council handled several routine items and project updates at its May 11 meeting, approving yearly driver's license checks for staff, the 2026 pool schedule and fees, a temporary liquor license for a July 3 event, and a pay request for Emerald Valley Phase 2.
Council approved the 2026 pool schedule and fees (Resolution 26-029) and heard that the pool is scheduled to open June 1; staffing includes 16 lifeguards (13 returning, three new) and swimming lessons limited to five students per session. The council also approved a temporary liquor license for the Wanamingo Fire Relief Association’s July 3 dance (26-030).
The council approved Pay Request No. 2 for TK Contracting on Emerald Valley 2 (26-031); Theobald said the project is about 68% complete and the contractor’s pay estimate for the period is $171,862.60. The council approved yearly driver’s license checks for employees who may drive city vehicles (26-028).
On pedestrian bridge ramp repairs, the city and the low‑bid contractor, Kleese Construction, mutually terminated their agreement because materials and scheduling could not be guaranteed. Homestead Restoration agreed to take the job; it estimates supplies at roughly 60 days and guaranteed completion by Sept. 1, 2026. The council adjourned at 8:21 p.m.
