ZBA approves aboveground pool on corner lot after neighbors back family request

Applicants Angie Morales and Jeffrey Goodrich told the board the pool is needed for a family member's health and that they intend to add a deck later. Several nearby residents, including Art Fowler and Kevin Sterling, spoke in favor of the project during public comment. The board reviewed the statutory five-factor area-variance test and concluded the variance was not likely to harm neighborhood character, and that no feasible alternative site on the lot would meet the family's needs.
On a unanimous vote the ZBA approved the variance. The board noted the applicant must follow standard building-permit and safety requirements for pools and that a separate deck proposal will require additional review if and when submitted.
