Neighbors raise sightline concerns; Starbucks sign application deferred to July meeting

Residents near the Mid Valley Mall told the Town of Newburgh Zoning Board of Appeals they were concerned that illuminated Starbucks menu boards — proposed as part of an application handled by Lite Brite Signs for 31 North Plank Road — could be visible from nearby yards once fall foliage drops.
Charlene Woodhall said she could already see the mall site from her house when leaves fall and said she worried a drive-thru menu board would be visible to her property. Evelyn McComb, another nearby resident, asked the board to consider the cumulative effect of new illuminated signage along the corridor. The applicant and their sign representative did not appear at the hearing.
Because the applicant team was absent, the board left the public hearing open and rescheduled the matter for the July 24 meeting and asked the applicant to attend so neighbors and the board can hear the proposal and any proposed mitigation measures (screening, directional lighting, brightness controls).
