The Pinckneyville City Council on June 22 approved a lease of the premises at 5512 State Route 154 to the Perry-Jackson County Child Advocacy Center and cleared a package of routine financial items, the council said.
Commissioner Joshua L. Kuhnert introduced Ordinance No. O-2026-06 to lease the property at 5512 State Route 154 to the Perry-Jackson County Child Advocacy Center; Commissioner Kevin B. Hicks seconded and the ordinance passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. Kuhnert also presented Resolution No. R-2026-19 to enter into a Little Free Library agreement with the Illinois Coalition For Community Services; Commissioner Sammy D. Peradotta seconded and the resolution was adopted unanimously.
The council approved an emergency invoice from Xylem for repairs to the Godwin pump on Gordon Street totaling $7,858.25 to be paid from Sewer Equipment Repairs, after Commissioner Kuhnert requested approval and Commissioner Peradotta seconded the motion. The body also approved a quote from Lane Trailer Mfg. Co. for $8,775.00 to purchase a coiled pipe trailer; the purchase will be reimbursed by the Delta Regional Authority Gas Line Replacement Grant. All motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes (Commissioners Hicks, Kuhnert, Peradotta, Stotlar, and Mayor Spencer voted yea on each recorded vote).
The council earlier approved routine business items: minutes from the June 8 regular meeting, the treasurer’s report (ending balance $13,375,971.80; unrestricted balance $2,793,940.44), and accounts payable with three added invoices: $297.33 from Companion Life, $132.08 from Verizon for tablets and $841.07 from Verizon for cell phones. Each of those motions also passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
Taken together, the measures secure short-term operational needs (pump repair and equipment purchase) and allow community-facing programs (a leased space for the child advocacy center and a Little Free Library partnership) to proceed. The council adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
