Dunmore Council approves $48,875 park contract, appoints crossing guard and fills DPW roles

Council for the Borough of Dunmore on Sept. 8 unanimously approved a series of routine motions and personnel actions, including awarding a $48,875 contract for a park development project and appointing a new crossing guard.

Council President Janet Brier opened the meeting at the Dunmore Community Center and led the roll call; all members were present. Greg Wolff, the borough manager, told council the park project was publicly advertised and that "we had six bidders and Lawn and Order was the lowest responsible bidder." Mayor Conway said the project has been in development for a long time and called it "a great addition to the Borough." Wolff said the bidder expects to complete the work by Nov. 30.

Council also appointed Jacqueline Perry‑Amico as a crossing guard after Wolff reported she had passed background checks and been approved by the schools and police. Wolff said she will be stationed "right at the corner of Quincy and Electric," the five‑points area near the school.

On personnel, council approved Dom Lalli as the primary for an internal Department of Public Works posting to handle 811 stormwater identification duties (the call‑before‑you‑dig process). Council likewise confirmed Justin Taffera as the alternate; Wolff said Taffera will be compensated only when Lalli is unavailable.

The meeting included routine approvals: minutes from the Aug. 11 meeting and payment of open bills were both adopted by unanimous vote.
