Forks council approves interfund loan, budget amendment and accepts state grant actions

The City of Forks Council voted June 22 to approve two local ordinances and several finance actions aimed at addressing short-term cash needs and project funding.

Clerk/Treasurer Caryn DePew explained the need for an interfund loan to cover temporary cash flow and presented a proposed budget amendment for the Quillayute Airport Fund. On motions by Council Member Gingell, seconded by Council Member Pearson, the council adopted Ordinance No. 692 authorizing the interfund loan and Ordinance No. 693 authorizing the budget amendment.

The council also approved payroll checks 45835 through 45852 totaling $89,798.28 and claim checks 45853 through 45894 plus electronic funds transfers totaling $275,355.26. Gingell moved the expenditures motion and Pearson seconded; the motions carried.

Attorney/Planner Fleck told the council that the city had been offered a WSDOT grant that requires a local match. The council voted to accept the WSDOT grant and its terms on a motion by Gingell, seconded by Pearson. Fleck also described a separate opportunity from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office; the council authorized staff to apply for and, if awarded, accept the RCO grant (motion Gingell, second Pearson).

These votes leave the city with two newly adopted ordinances on the books and with staff authorized to proceed with the grant match and application processes. No vote tallies by individual councilmember name were recorded in the meeting minutes beyond the motion/second and the notation that motions "carried."
