Thomas said the department employs three full-time staff (including a manager) and several part-timers and operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. He said the operation is not a peak-time public service but could support programs, a book drop, and occasional outreach at the Dunmore Community Center. Thomas noted that the department’s previous space at Silkman House needs substantial repairs and is unsuitable.
The lease, effective Oct. 1, 2025, sets monthly rent at $600. William O’Malley moved to approve the lease; Elizabeth Zangardi seconded. Council members voted aye.
Council members welcomed the library’s presence and discussed opportunities for coordinated programming with Dunmore’s summer recreation and other community activities. Scranton Public Library will coordinate logistics with borough staff under the terms of the lease.
