The Huron School District Board of Education on Sept. 29 approved a series of personnel hires, two out-of-state student trips, an updated quote for high school cafeteria equipment totaling $320,412 and accounts payable of $5,460,851.91. President Scott Ferguson called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. in the Huron High School Media Center and the meeting adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
The board heard a presentation from Nate of Rehmann Robson on the district’s recent audit; Nate reported no issues of non-compliance and no audit findings. The board then moved through routine business and personnel items, approving multiple hires across the district including Tanya Smith as Head Cook at Ferguson Early Childhood Center and Rebecca Day as a new bus driver. All motions recorded a 7-0 vote unless noted otherwise.
Why this matters: the approvals finalize staffing and operational expenditures for the coming months and authorize travel and capital spending that affect students, food service and facility planning. The accounts payable vote records the district’s current cash obligations and the procurement vote updates the equipment purchase that will affect cafeteria operations.
