Libraries report busy summer programs; Blue Ridge parking and Buchanan renovation remain unresolved

Julie Phillips, Library Director, told the Botetourt County Library Board on June 10 that libraries are busy with the Summer Reading Challenge and that the Buchanan children's summer feeding program distributed 214 boxes on its first day.
Phillips said the Blue Ridge Library has seen increased patron complaints about crowded parking and interior congestion. To assess expansion feasibility and cost, she said she had reached out to an architect for a site study and a cost proposal. Trustees discussed the issue but no decision was made at the June 10 meeting.
Dr. Warren Clark, board chair, asked about progress on Buchanan's renovation; Phillips said there had been no appreciable progress and noted that renovation funding would be considered in the county budget adoption at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday, June 15.
The board adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
