Council informed town attorney has been appointed county manager; possible replacements mentioned

Council member Watts told the Town of Gay council its attorney has been appointed Pike County manager and will stop handling municipal clients; she said Mr. Heath English will take over those contract clients and shared information about attorney Scott Mayfield as a potential replacement.
At the July 14 meeting, Council member Watts told the council that the town’s current attorney has been officially appointed as county manager for Pike County and will no longer handle municipal clients. Watts said the attorney informed the town by email and that Mr. Heath English is taking over those contract clients and will probably contact the town.
Watts also relayed information from Council member Keith about Scott Mayfield of Smith, Welch, Webb & White in the Barnsville office, noting Mayfield represents other municipal clients and could be considered as replacement counsel. The council did not take formal action to retain new counsel at the meeting.
