The Blanchester Local Board of Education approved a package of business and personnel items at its June 5 special meeting, including contracts for extended school‑year occupational and physical therapy, summer speech services, a College Credit Plus memorandum of understanding with Sinclair Community College, an insurance renewal, and several personnel actions.
Board members approved the Warren County ESC contract for extended‑school‑year occupational and physical therapy services (up to 10 hours), the Southern Ohio ESC provider agreement for summer speech‑language pathology services, and the Southern Ohio ESC governing board contract for the 2025–26 school year. The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with Sinclair Community College for College Credit Plus courses at the "default floor amount" established by Ohio Revised Code §3365.07.
The board approved the Southwestern Ohio Education Purchasing Council (EPC) 2025–2026 liability, fleet and property insurance renewal proposal for $118,913 and accepted presented FY2026 insurance rate information. Documentation presented by the EPC showed proposed Anthem HDHP renewal single rate rising from $808.74 to $822.89 and family from $2,332.70 to $2,373.52; Delta Dental and VSP vision rates were shown as unchanged. The presentation asked the district to return acceptance by July 1, 2025.
On personnel, the board approved the voluntary transfer of Sherry Simmerman to Intervention Specialist‑Resource Room (multi‑grade); accepted the resignation of Jessica Todd from her first‑grade position at the end of her contract; approved a supplemental contract for Shelly Pembleton for Music and Art Engagement at Putman at $200 per nights event; approved the hiring of Kayci Davis as a first‑grade teacher for 2025–26 at Step 0; and accepted the resignation of Shelby Johnson from a second‑shift custodial position at the middle school effective June 13, 2025. Chris Baker moved the superintendent's personnel recommendations and Kathy Gephart seconded; all present voted in favor.
