Liquor board adopts temporary‑event questionnaire and a three‑year recurring one‑day approval option

Board administrator Geneva presented two procedural updates the board agreed to implement to streamline temporary‑event licensing.

First, staff introduced a supplemental per‑diem/one‑day event questionnaire to be attached to temporary alcoholic beverage applications. The questionnaire asks applicants to describe the event, estimate attendance, identify advertising and the alcohol servers, and flags outdoor music festivals with 1,000 or more spectators so the board and inspectors can consider additional controls. Commissioners said the form will help inspectors and applicants arrive better prepared at hearings and the board agreed the questionnaire can be implemented as part of the application process.

Second, Geneva proposed—and commissioners accepted—an option allowing recurring annual one‑day events at the same location with no violations to appear once per year and, if approved, obtain authorization that would remain in effect for three years, subject to return earlier for violations or significant changes. Geneva said staff and the inspector will notify organizations that commonly qualify (fire companies, the Culinary Center and similar recurring event holders) so they can plan agenda appearances in December for early January events.

Commissioners and staff agreed the changes are intended to streamline board hearings and to give inspectors the information needed to evaluate conditions ahead of meetings. Geneva will notify licensees and post the updated process and the 2026 schedule after confirming a few calendar adjustments.
