The Caroline County Liquor Board voted to postpone the start of a 30‑day suspension for Red Light Liquors until Jan. 2, 2026. The board’s move delays a suspension that the board had previously ordered following a show‑cause hearing.
Board administrator Geneva told commissioners that the original penalty included a $2,500 fine due by Nov. 21 and a 30‑day suspension that had been scheduled to begin Nov. 23. Robin, who identified herself as the Red Light Liquors licensee, asked the board to move the suspension start to avoid a holiday and weekend conflicts.
“We actually did buy a scanner … the unit is defective. It works for about 12 licenses and then it won’t read them,” Robin said, adding the supplier had agreed to replace the unit and a new one was expected soon. Robin told the board the store would be closed during the suspension and said staff would bring the license to the board office on Jan. 2.
Commissioner Trey moved to grant the postponement to Jan. 2, 2026; the chair seconded. The motion carried on affirmative votes by Trey and the chair. The board staff said written follow‑up documentation of the postponement will be provided to the licensee. Geneva confirmed the $2,500 fine remains due by the previously stated deadline.
The board recorded that the licensee will be responsible for complying with any follow‑up inspection and for delivering the physical license to the board office on the revised start date.
