The Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities (NGCDD) Executive Committee voted Feb. 5 to create an Ad‑Hoc Education Subcommittee to advise the council on education‑related initiatives.
Catherine Nielsen, the council’s executive director, outlined the proposal and said the subgroup would work with council members and community participants. Nielsen said the Deputy Attorney General’s office provided guidance to ensure the subcommittee’s structure and membership comply with the Nevada Open Meeting Law and that the committee will seek to fill very specific membership roles.
Anna Marie Binder, chair of the Executive Committee, moved to approve creation of the Ad‑Hoc Education Committee with guidance from the Deputy Attorney General’s office; Stacy Alaribe seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
The committee did not identify individual members during the meeting; staff said they will follow legal guidance as they form the subcommittee and return details to the council or Full Council for any required approvals. The Executive Committee set no implementation deadline during the Feb. 5 meeting.
The meeting was held by videoconference; the committee adjourned at 11:18 a.m.
