At its Aug. 22 meeting the Washington County Board of Education approved a broad consent agenda, several routine motions and a personnel slate, then moved into a short work session on facilities.
The consent agenda (Bd. #24-064), approved 4-0, included minutes from the July 15 regular session, payment of bills, budget amendments, and donations (12 backpacks from Amy Trigg and a box of school supplies from McDonald's). The board also approved memoranda of agreement with Central Kentucky Head Start and Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, a partnership agreement with Central Kentucky Community Action for an Educational Neglect Prevention and Family Engagement Program, the Kentucky Incentives for Prevention (KIP) 2024 MOU, an AT&T Connected School Bus scope of work contract, and other service proposals and facility-use agreements.
The board approved trip requests for the WCHS FFA chapter to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis (Oct. 23-26, 2024), the State FFA Convention in Lexington (June 10-12, 2025) and Kentucky FFA Leadership Training in Hardinsburg (June 30'July 4, 2025) (Bd. #24-065).
The board voted 4-0 (Bd. #24-066) to raise adult meal prices to $3.15 for breakfast (from $3.00) and $4.85 for lunch (from $4.80).
Construction-related items included approval of change orders for the WCHS Phase II Athletic Project, recorded as Bd. #24-069. One agenda item was postponed (Bd. #24-070).
Personnel actions recorded in the minutes include certified hires (including district-wide special education teachers and classroom teachers), classified hires (instructional assistants, network technician, coordinators, childcare workers), coaches and assistant athletic director appointments, several resignations, and one retirement. The minutes list many individual names for hires, resignations and issued classified contracts; the board approved personnel items as presented.
The formal session adjourned at 6:24 p.m. (Bd. #24-071). After adjournment the board held a work session in which members discussed district facilities; the minutes do not record decisions from that work session.
