Reese, a county staff member presenting the financial reports, said the county received "just over 3,100,000" in SPLOST receipts for May and that the rolling 12‑month annualized percentage shows a negative 1.45% change. Reese told commissioners the rolling figure incorporates months affected by Hurricane Helene (October–December 2024) and said staff anticipate the rolling percentage will shift as more months move past that period.
Commissioners probed whether the downward trend is a concern and requested additional auditing and year‑over‑year month‑to‑month comparisons. One commissioner suggested comparing May 2026 to May 2025 for a clearer view; Reese agreed staff will continue monitoring and complete the fiscal‑year closeout numbers ahead of the audit.
Reese also presented an investment summary for committee information and said staff will update figures during closeout. No formal action was taken on the SPLOST update; commissioners requested follow‑up information and the staff report will be updated as the fiscal closeout proceeds.
The committee recessed for five minutes after the staff reports.
