She said the district used to find the billing effort worthwhile but, with evolving state requirements and the prospect of paying external billers or double-entry workflows, the cost-benefit has changed.
The chair called for a motion to stop Medicaid billing. Deb (board member) moved and Ed seconded; the board voted, and the motion carried. The business officer noted the district had received only a small amount this year (the meeting record shows $152.63 year-to-date as referenced at the time of the discussion), and board members said they preferred staff time to be spent on direct school services rather than billing compliance.
The board recorded no later action to re-start billing; if financial circumstances change the board can revisit the decision.
