Caledonia council approves $160,000 oversight contract, moves to advertise Warrior Avenue extension bids

City Engineer Aleigha Burg told the Caledonia City Council on June 22 that the Warrior Avenue extension project will include approximately 900 feet of new roadway, a multi-use trail and a turn lane on Highway 76. Burg said the project is receiving significant state funding and requires contracted construction management and inspection services.
The council unanimously approved a construction oversight agreement with SEH Inc for $160,000 to provide those services. Member Bob Klug moved to approve the agreement; Member John Rauk seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
Burg also presented the plans and specifications and asked the council to authorize advertisement for construction bids. The council approved the plans and ordered the engineer to advertise the project on QUEST CDN; the advertisement will remain open until July 27 at 10:00 a.m., according to Burg.
The council record shows the oversight fee was described as an expected and budgeted project cost and was tied to the project’s state funding requirements. No public comment on the project was recorded at the June 22 meeting. The next steps are the public bidding period and subsequent bid review by the city engineer and council.
