Town approves three‑year water service extension for Montgomery Oaks and a $73,561 Water Fund amendment

On May 27 the Town of North East approved a three‑year extension of the Water Service Agreement for Freedom Development LLC, Montgomery Oaks Section 2 (Phases 1, 2 & 3). The extension extends the agreement from November 18, 2024, with the new expiration now November 18, 2027. The motion to approve the extension was made by Vice‑Mayor Kimberly Davis, seconded by Commissioner Hilary Crothers‑Moore, and passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved Budget Amendment 2026‑011 for the Water Fund, increasing available resources by $73,561 and allocating the amount across several line items: Supplies — Lines $15,000; Supplies — Labs $2,700; Supplies — Electricity $30,000; OT Service — Lab $5,861; Property Service — R&M Services $20,000. Commissioner Crothers‑Moore moved approval; Vice‑Mayor Davis seconded and the motion passed by unanimous vote.
Town staff indicated the water service extension was recommended by the Planning Office and that the budget amendment is intended to cover operational and lab costs at the town's water plants.
