North East commissioners approve employee benefit contributions, declare Juneteenth a permanent holiday

Vice‑Mayor Kimberly Davis moved on May 27 that the Mayor and Commissioners adopt a package of resolutions addressing personnel benefits, holiday observance and administrative fees. The motion, seconded by Commissioner Hilary Crothers‑Moore, passed unanimously. Resolutions adopted included Circuit Rider funding for FY2027; a resolution to declare Juneteenth a permanent holiday to be observed annually; and resolutions adopting the amounts the town will contribute toward medical insurance premiums, dental and vision premiums, and life insurance for full‑time employees. The board also approved an amendment to the Administrative Fee Schedule.
Mayor Benson requested that Resolution 2026‑05‑09 (an amendment to the Planning & Zoning Schedule of Fees) be tabled for further discussion; the board agreed.
