Richland County approves $5,000 traffic study for CR81 & CR2; Sedler reports multiple highway project completions

The Richland County Board of Commissioners approved a traffic study for the intersection of CR81 and CR2 near Christine after Highway Department representative Jesse Sedler reported the study's estimated cost of about $5,000 and said Interstate Engineering will provide recommendations when the study is complete.
Sedler told the board the county's overlay projects and chip seals are complete and that painting and striping would begin the day of the meeting. He said drain tile work is finished and about six miles of graveling remain. Sedler reported the Helendale Bridge has been removed and that the related project should be complete in November.
Sedler also reported purchasing a right-of-way from a landowner at a negotiated price of $3,000 per acre. He noted that Minn-Dak has finished its turn lane work and that Riverview Dairy will begin constructing its turn lane soon. Sedler said traffic signs for the Haul Road are complete and that he and Donnie Witt would place them that day. Sedler told commissioners that Flex funding grant applications are due Friday and that he will submit an application for Richland County.
Commissioners approved the traffic study on a motion that passed unanimously.
The board did not take additional formal action on the other highway updates beyond receiving Sedler's report; staff indicated standard project schedules and contractor timelines will govern completion dates.
