Board approves substitutes, staff professional development and first readings of personnel policies
Summary
The Franklin Borough School District Board authorized substitute appointments and approved staff professional development registrations, and the board advanced first readings of policies including a nepotism bylaw, chief school administrator employment policy and sexual harassment regulation.
On Feb. 9 the Franklin Borough School District Board of Education approved several personnel and policy items presented by the Personnel and Education committees.
On a motion by Christopher Patterson, seconded by Erin Henry, the board approved substitute appointments for the 2025–2026 school year. The substitutes listed in the minutes are Suzanne Billgert and Nitosha Young as substitute teachers ($150 per day) and Antonia Terranova as a substitute paraprofessional ($115 per day), all pending completion of required paperwork.
The board also approved professional development registrations for staff member Amy Maurin to attend three live online seminars (each registration fee $295) covering supports for students with IEPs (Feb. 12), high-functioning autism (March 26) and ADHD (April 21).
In addition, the board approved first readings of personnel-related bylaws and policies, including Bylaw 0142.1 (Nepotism), Policy 1220 (Employment of Chief School Administrator) and Policy & Regulation 1552 (Sexual Harassment – Staff). Those items were recorded as first readings and will return for subsequent consideration per board policy.
All motions on personnel and policy first readings were approved by roll call votes during the meeting.
