Highway department outlines milling, paving and signage plans; seeks DOT cost-share for GAP coating

Highway personnel Jesse Sedler and Donnie Witt updated the Richland County Board of Commissioners on routine and planned road work July 22.
Sedler said gravel crushing is complete and that millings are finished on CR 1, CR 3, CR 16, CR 22 and CR 81. Paving is scheduled to begin with CR 81 first, followed by CR 22, CR 16, CR 1 and CR 3. Drain tile work on CR 3 was reported as nearly complete and expected to finish in about two days.
Sedler also reported complaints related to CR 21 and CR 22 (the Haul Road). The county will add signs with flashing lights indicating cross-traffic does not stop in addition to existing yield signs.
On motion by Commissioner Nathan Berseth, seconded by Commissioner Rollie Ehlert, the board approved applying GAP coating to the overpasses on CR 1, CR 22, CR 15 and CR 6 based on a $24,195 quote; the approval is contingent on contacting the state DOT engineer to determine whether DOT will cost share.
