Jefferson County authorizes state bond-act grant application for drainage fixes on County Route 123

Reed, Sr., the resolution directs the County Department of Planning and Community Development to submit an application to the Community Resilience and Flood Risk Reduction Grants Program for improvements on County Route 123 in the Town of Henderson. The resolution states that severe drainage deficiencies along the route contribute to accelerated pavement deterioration, potholes, winter refreezing, and increased maintenance demands, and it describes proposed measures including full-depth pavement reconstruction, closed drainage systems, culvert replacement and consolidation, underdrains to relieve subsurface water, and incorporation of green infrastructure and stormwater-quality practices where feasible.
The program requires a local match of at least 10% of eligible project costs; the resolution states that the 10% match is anticipated not to exceed $250,000. The motion was seconded by Legislator Robert D. Ferris. The record states that all members present voted aye; the meeting record shows five members absent (Freeman, Cantwell, Potter, Boulio, and Johnson). Following the vote the Board adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
The resolution authorizes staff to pursue the grant application; any award and subsequent design or construction actions would be subject to later approvals and funding decisions.
