At the July 10 special meeting the Stamping Ground commission heard introductions from two attorney candidates and held a first reading of a Solid Waste Removal Rates Ordinance.
Attorney Derick Wright spoke about his background and interest in serving as the city attorney and answered commissioners’ questions about services his firm would offer. Attorney Zach Osborne provided similar remarks about his experience and the scope of services he would provide. No appointment was made during the meeting; the commission merely conducted interviews.
Attorney Joe Hoffman read the first reading of the Solid Waste Removal Rates Ordinance, and commissioners discussed options to save money related to solid-waste services. Because this was a first reading, no final action or new rates were adopted at the meeting.
The Planning & Zoning board requested to attend the July 22 meeting to discuss rezoning at no cost. Mayor Jennifer Jones noted that yearly employee evaluations have not been completed and should be conducted going forward.
