Residents press Siskiyou County on restricted green-waste access and a public-records request on data-center communications

Public comment at the Siskiyou County meeting raised two operational concerns: restricted access to a community green-waste facility in McLeod and questions about how to request communications related to a proposed data center.
Bridal Driscoll, a McLeod resident, asked the board to review recent severe restrictions at a green-waste site that she said had historically been included as part of local refuse services. "We are being denied a service or severely limited a service that we have paid for historically and, without a reduction in our rates," Driscoll said, adding she had documents and correspondence, including exchange with a district CFO, to support her request.
A separate remote participant asked county staff how to submit a Public Records Act request for communications about a data-center project that may not be active. County staff and counsel advised that the PRA request should include all communications the county has received on the subject and offered help with the request; staff warned there may be significant search effort and cost even if a project is not active.
The chair noted staff would follow up with the individuals who raised the issues. The board did not take immediate action on the green-waste claim during the meeting; staff were asked to assist with the PRA process and follow up with the commenters.
