Maiden Rock board keeps Chippewa Valley Energy for fuel, hears residents on dust control and road work

The Town of Maiden Rock board on June 16 agreed to remain with Chippewa Valley Energy for its summer fuel supply and addressed several routine road and public-comment items.
Clerk/Treasurer Carla R. Schuster reported two bids for summer fuel: Alcivia at $2.53 per gallon and Chippewa Valley Energy at $2.519 per gallon. The board "agreed to stay with Chippewa Valley Energy." The minutes do not record a formal roll-call vote for the procurement decision beyond that consensus.
Road supervisors reported ongoing grading and ditch-cleaning work, a bent sign at the intersection of 50th and 250th that Cole Kangas will follow up on, and a blown valve stem on the John Deere that was repaired by Clare. Mark Larson has agreed to provide part-time blading. The board noted plans to rock 78th Street near M. Collett and 100th Avenue near D. Iverson this year.
On dust control, resident Dan Ellenberger asked that the township pay for treatments on public roads. Chairman Jerry F. Duden said Luhman's Construction had submitted dust-control applications for residents and stated, "At this time township will not be responsible but will look into it for next year." That position was recorded in the minutes as the board's current stance.
Other administrative items included the clerk's listing of upcoming bills (including Swiftcurrent, Intuit QuickBooks subscription and Pierce County Highway Department charges), zoning permit filings (driveways, a new single-family home, deck renewal) and a planning commission meeting scheduled for June 23. The clerk also noted Swift Current service for internet and phone had been connected May 28.
Procedural motions recorded in the minutes: Supervisor John Danneker moved and Supervisor Allen White seconded acceptance of the May 2025 minutes and the May treasurer's report; both motions passed "All were in favor." The board reviewed employee time cards with no concerns and adjourned at 7:30 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Danneker and seconded by Allen White.
