Maiden Rock board approves $22,286 chargeback payment to WI Frac Sand for 2020 taxes

The Town of Maiden Rock board voted Aug. 11 to pay an estimated $22,286 chargeback to WI Frac Sand for tax year 2020 after an explanation from Assessor Bob Irwin.
Irwin told the board that the township’s portion of the chargeback is about $22,286 and that some of that amount will be returned because portions are owed to Ellsworth School and the county. He said he would assist Clerk/Treasurer Carla R Schuster with the online filing and noted the process must be completed by Oct. 1, 2025. The minutes state the board should follow up to determine how the payment will affect the town budget.
Supervisor II Allen White moved to pay the chargeback “as soon as possible,” and Supervisor I John Danneker seconded the motion. The minutes record that all members voted in favor and the motion carried. The minutes do not specify a separate budget amendment at the meeting; the board indicated a budget follow-up will be required to reflect the chargeback payment.
