Lucas County supervisors approve April financial reports, personnel actions and $198,637.94 in claims

The Lucas County Board of Supervisors met at the Courthouse on May 6, 2026, and approved a series of routine financial and administrative actions. Chairperson Cathy Reece called the meeting to order. Supervisor Dennis Smith moved to approve the agenda, and Supervisor Larry Davis seconded; all three supervisors voted aye.
The board approved the Lucas County Treasurer’s monthly report for April 2026, which showed revenue collected of $1,453,788.20, disbursements of $5,048,940.91 and an ending account balance of $10,658,669.71 as of April 30, 2026. Supervisors also approved the Lucas County Recorder’s monthly revenue report for April, which reported $6,591.97 in receipts.
The Lucas County Sheriff’s office submitted two items the board approved: a bi-monthly expenditures report showing $17,139.39 in expenditures for April 15–May 6, 2026, and a quarterly report for Jan. 1–Mar. 31, 2026 showing a beginning running balance of $5,191.08, deposits of $89,788.35, withdrawals of $84,008.97 and an ending balance of $10,970.46.
On personnel matters, the board approved the appointment of Bill Vaughn of Lucas County to fill a vacancy on the Civil Service Commission for the remainder of a term beginning May 6, 2026 and ending Jan. 1, 2028. The board also approved a resolution hiring George Barber as a full-time deputy at the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, effective April 27, 2026, at a rate of $32.71 per hour. Both motions were approved unanimously.
The board approved a change of ownership for a liquor license for North Country Express and Holdings Inc., renewed existing Shore Tel phone-system equipment under Agreement #1859913-000 (22 phones), and approved a corrected resolution of salaries for elected officials for FY2027 to fix a clerical error in the auditor’s wage.
Supervisors voted to approve payment of claims totaling $198,637.94 for the period April 15–May 6, 2026. The meeting record contains an itemized list of vendor payments submitted with the claims motion. After completing the agenda the board voted to adjourn to meet sine die.
Chairperson Cathy Reece announced the board’s June meeting will be moved from June 3 to June 4, 2026 because of the primary election and to allow time to process claims for that meeting. The minutes are signed by Chairperson Cathy Reece and Julie L. Masters, Auditor.
