County Attorney Bin Minter told the council a recent county resolution gives county commissioners the authority to select appointees to the County Water Board and said the county believes Lumpkin should not retain a seat on that board because the city does not receive county water. Minter also said the county has advertised changes to board member appointments and that the Wim's Center de‑annexation would facilitate grant approvals for the building.
Councilwoman B. Mallory moved to de‑annex the Wim's Center; Councilwoman F. Brown seconded the motion. The council approved the motion by a 6–0 vote.
Clerk Anne Holloway noted the county is the property's sole owner and that the owner requested the de‑annexation. The council did not record additional conditions or follow‑up actions tied to the vote during the meeting.
The county attorney also discussed related grant timing in the meeting and encouraged anyone with questions to contact his office. Clerk Holloway will email meeting dates and other notices to council members as needed.
